Welcome to Apothelinx!

Hello, and welcome to Apothelinx! Jeff and Dale here, your friendly neighborhood pharmacists. We are retail pharmacists with over 50 combined years of experience, working in a North Alabama independent pharmacy. We've pretty much seen and heard everything there is to see and hear from our patients over the last 25 plus years. We've had tens of thousands of conversations with people just like you as they perused our aisles looking for help and answers. And we've definitely noticed a pattern. A typical interaction might go something like this:

Case 1

Patient: "Hey, Doc! What do you have out here for some energy? I just feel so tired all the time."

Pharmacist: "I've got some things you can try, but first tell me how many hours of sleep you get on average."

Patient: "Oh, I never get more than 4 or 5 hours a night. It takes me forever to fall asleep because my mind is always racing thinking about what I need to get done."

Or something like this:

Case 2

Patient: "Can you show me what I can take to help me lose weight? I'm eating the same as I always have, but I keep gaining!"

Pharmacist: “OK. Tell me, how many days per week do you exercise?”

Patient: "Exercise?! I'm lucky to walk the dog around the neighborhood once or twice a week. I'm super busy, and by the time I get home from work, I'm done."

Pharmacist: "How are you sleeping?"

(See Case 1)

Or maybe this:

Case 3

Patient: "What's a good vitamin out here? My doctor says if I don't eat better and get my blood sugar under control, she's going to put me on an injection."

Pharmacist: "The best multivitamin I've got is Apothelinx Core Complete. But that's probably not the best thing to help lower your A1C. Are you eating 3 balanced meals a day?

Patient: "I wish. I'm usually running late for work, so breakfast is a Pop-Tart. And for lunch, I'm door-dashing from the closest burger joint.

Pharmacist: “OK, I see some low-hanging fruit here. Also, even moderate exercise is great for lowering blood sugar. What's your exercise routine look like?

(See Case 2)

Sound like someone you know? Starting to see a pattern?

Back to the Basics

Modern medicine is wonderful. At its heart is the scientific method and rigorous placebo-controlled clinical trials that have transformed our healthcare over the last 100 years. There is no doubt modern medicine has both increased our average lifespans and added quality to our longer lives. As pharmacists, we wholeheartedly believe this. However, it sometimes seems we're missing the forest for the trees. Our modern society has given up some control of our own health to modern medicine. Blood pressure too high? There's a pill for that. Cholesterol out of control? A pill for that, too. As effective as modern prescription medication is, and as necessary as it sometimes is, we can do a lot more to help our doctors keep us healthy. We can get back to the basics of living healthier lives:

  • Eating a healthy, balanced diet
  • Getting enough consistent, quality sleep
  • Challenging our brains with activities to promote and maintain learning, mood, and memory
  • Moving our bodies with the right quality and quantity of exercise

We at Apothelinx believe these basics are essential. We also believe they are intertwined and inseparable.

Take the person who’s looking for an energy boost: If she starts getting enough quality sleep, then her energy levels go up. That in turn gives her enough energy to start using that gym membership she forgot she had and work out. And exercise has been proven to improve her quality and quantity of sleep.

Or the person looking to improve their blood sugar levels. If he starts to eat a more balanced diet higher in protein and healthy fats, then blood sugar levels improve. Which can lead to weight loss. Which can lead to improved energy levels. Which can lead to more exercise. Which can lead to lower blood pressure, better glycemic control, and better sleep. Which can lead to improved memory and mood, and so on.

Why Apothelinx?

We as pharmacists want to help people reach their health care goals. And we think that helping people address these basics of healthy living is essential to reaching those goals. But in the world of modern medicine, we seem to have forgotten how important these basics really are. Studies have proven that improving these basics has a profound and powerful impact on our overall health. Science and experience have shown us that certain vitamins and supplements can help address the basics. You’ll never hear us say you can “cure” (insert disease here) with this vitamin or that supplement. (You can’t. Unless your disease is scurvy or rickets.) Or if you simply take enough vitamins, you can get off all your prescription medications. (You most likely won’t.) Modern medicine is often necessary, and you should always follow your doctor’s advice. But science-based supplementation CAN improve your quality of life and help you live to your healthiest potential. For example, a multivitamin can’t replace a well-balanced diet. But life happens, and sometimes we skip breakfast or don't have time to meal prep. A multivitamin can help fill in the gaps when our diet falls short of our goals.

Thus, we decided to create a company focused on elite-quality vitamins and supplements we believe have a proven record of improving those basic health metrics. These aren’t store-brand supplements. They aren’t dollar-store supplements. They are sourced from the highest quality manufacturers we could find and made to our specifications. And they are supplements we can stand behind and recommend without reservation.

So if you feel like you aren’t living up to your healthiest potential or you could do better when it comes to achieving the basics of good health, join us. Let’s get healthier together!
